Act of launching of the European Union project hold in West Coast Region (The Gambia)
On the past 20th of April, Wassu Gambia Kafo (WGK) formally declared initiated the innovative project “Evidence into Action: Applied Research & Knowledge Transfer for Management and Prevention of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting in The Gambia”, financed by the European Union (EU) and implemented by WGK on West Coast Region and Central River Region through the following 36 months.
The act was attended by representatives of the local and international authorities, health professionals, religious organizations, as well as the media. On it, the research and training teams of WGK explained the objectives and methodology to be employed. Additionally, Janko Jimbara, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, on behalf of the Gambian Government, as well as Attila Lajos, first ambassador of the EU in The Gambia, expressed their commitment and will to collaborate actively for the achievement of the project and its objectives.
