• For the right to live healthy and
    meaningful lives

Wassu-UAB Foundation is an academic organization of international scope, working for the management and prevention of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) through anthropological and medical research, applied to knowledge transfer. Born from the will to contribute to build up a world more equal of rights, Wassu-UAB Foundation proposes a pioneer, innovative and sustainable methodology.

  • We do not impose change.

We transfer knowledge, empowering and creating opportunities for
    people to take informed decisions.

As a fundamental contribution, Wassu-UAB Foundation hosts the Transnational Observatory of Applied Research to New Strategies for the Prevention of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting, with two research and training centres, in Spain and in The Gambia:

To improve the living conditions of women and girls and the health of mothers and children, recognizing their right to personal integrity and freedom, on a basis of social equality.

To design a scientific methodology and transfer knowledge to promote the abandonment of FGM/C in Africa and among the Diaspora.
